Wind is an essential element for kitesurfing. For the “Discovery Kiteboarder” day 1 lesson, 7 to 15 knots is ideal. For the “Intermediate Kiteboarder” day 2 lesson, 12 to 20 knots is ideal. Lessons will not take place if there is zero wind.

Poole Harbour works with a wide range of wind directions, Northwest, West, Southwest, South and Southeast but, unfortunately, Northerly or Easterly winds provide gusty and unpredictable conditions that are not safe for kitesurfing, so lessons will not be held when the wind is in these directions. This might mean that you end up spending one or two days indoors playing online games at places like the PartyPoker site. In order to get the most from you kitesurfing tuition we always wait until you have suitable wind conditions.
